Lately

Avery really loves books on tape or books on itunes. I downloaded a few for her and we also checked some out on our weekly library visit. This pic is of her during her rest time last week. I guess she was pretty tired.

The girls have truly been obsessed with eating chicken legs. They LOVE them! The above pic is of Riley at my grandparents house chowing down on some yummy chicken legs.

Avery started swim lessons this week and has done so well. I cannot say enough about how well she is doing. I have been amazed because Avery does not usually take to new things very well. I expected tears the first day, but she was amazing! She is taking private lessons, which I think is exactly what she needs. She gets so excited to get in the pool and the last two days she has actually run and jumped into the pool to greet her instructor. She has been diving under the water to catch rings and using the kickboard, flippers, etc... This really is something she is enjoying and that makes me so happy.

Daddy took Avery out tonight to buy her some new goggles and to enjoy a special treat at Baskin Robbins. Above is Avery sporting her new gear and showing off her rosy cheeks below.

Family pics

A week or so ago, Jaron's friend and co-worker Mark offered to take some pics of Riley and asked if he could use them for a photo project he is working on. When we arrived, he ended up spending over an hour with us and photographing all of us. He took some beautiful pics and gave us a cd with all of the images. This is an incredible gift for us as we could not have afforded to have a photo session. Riley and Avery were both cooperative and I feel like he captured some wonderful and fun pictures. You can check them out here:

stinkiness

As Riley is walking with her snack out of the kitchen she runs into Roger and shouts, "Back! My bowl!!" She also loves to hit him on he nose and poke him in the eye.

Riley kept trying to climb onto my lap while I sat in the recliner. The foot rest kept closing and I said, "Do you want me to help you?" She gave me the meanest look and yelled, "NO!"

Riley's favorite DVD is Signing Time. She brings me the disc and says "signing" as she does the sign herself. How cute is she? Well, if you happen to say not right now or later, she says "signing" even louder and will continue to do so until she is screaming it and then gets a time out. Not so cute.

She is biting, spanking, and hitting all of us, especially Avery. Poor big sis keeps getting picked on by the little runt.

And yes, all of this happened today and is usually part of the daily routine.

This girl is, how shall I put it...spirited? bratty? hard to manage? crazy? Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

But, this girl will melt your heart in a second when she smiles at you with those big blue eyes, scrunches up her nose making the silliest face ever, and continues to cover you in kisses and hugs just because that's how she rolls.

Man, we love this girl.

This is how I know summer is upon us...

The Komfort trailer is in the driveway and getting a good cleaning before we head off for a few camping trips. We bought this trailer two summers ago when I was pregnant with Riley and though it looks a bit rough, I love this thing. I am sure the neighbors love it too.

Don't park under the tree

Unfortunately, this is my parents' car. They are in Africa and we have been using it while they are out of town. Thankfully, there is very minimal damage.

I heart this

This was today's project. I stole the idea...no I am not this creative. I took a piece of canvas and appliqued the flowers and leaves. I then used embroidery floss for the stems and writing. To finish it up, I stapled the canvas to the frame. Super easy! I really like the way it turned out. I had all the supplies on hand except for the frame which I picked up a while back for $6 at an antique store. I would love to paint the frame so the piece stands out a bit, but I did not have that item so it will have to wait.

Before

after

This was my $8 project I alluded to in a previous post. I always looked at this wall behind the dining table and felt something was missing. So, I bought a 6 foot piece of wood for about $2 and three shelf brackets. I painted the shelf, screwed on the brackets and fixed it to the wall. Voila! An instant change that I really love! I had everything you see on the shelf already. Nice.
