Preschool Field Trip: Pumpkin Patch

Last Wednesday, Avery's class took a trip to the pumpkin patch. We started off in the classroom so the kids could give us a zoo phonics demonstration. Very cute! Avery is doing so well with all her letters and sounds. We then headed off to the patch which was just a short walk away. First there was a walk through the spooky woods. Avery was very proud of herself that she was not scared at all. She is really into being spooky this year. Then each kid got to pick out their own pumpkin. Next there was a short story time followed by class pics.

Avery is really loving her class. She has made good friends and always comes home so happy. It was the best decision to switch her to this morning pre-k class.

Maryland Trip - Part 3

On our last day, we went to Alexandria for lunch and some sightseeing. We had great burgers and fries for lunch and then walked around the shops. It is a beautiful town with gorgeous store fronts, lovely colors, and scenery. The brick buildings are my favorite and a lot of the stores and homes had gas lamps that were lit. It was the only day that it was not raining so we really enjoyed it.

The girls got to pick out a treat from the candy shop. Avery picked a Grab Pop and Riley picked a chocolate.

We stopped and walked through the Cemetery on our way out. It was so quiet and beautiful.

The girls were fabulous travelers. There was not one fight or tantrum to control. I feel very lucky that things went so smoothly!

Maryland Trip - Part 2 (The Wedding)

Maryland Trip- Part 1

On Wednesday, my mom, the girls, and I headed out on a super early flight to Maryland to help my sis get ready for her wedding! We arrived around 6pm on Wed evening and went back to her gorgeous townhome. We really enjoyed our time spent with Kari and Dave before the wedding even though we were super busy traveling all around finishing up details. :) Jaron and Dad took the red-eye out on Fri night and made it into Maryland just 3 hours before the wedding. Thankfully there were no delays! Everything went smoothly and we really enjoyed this special time with family.

These were so good! I had coconut and it was fabulous. We actually picked these up in Georgetown and we hit a ton of traffics getting there. We barely made it there - 2 minutes to spare - before they closed. Well worth it!

Pumpkin Patch

The sickness

We have been in the midst of sickness for a few weeks now. First the girls got colds, which were a bummer but at least they were mild and manageable. On Saturday Riley came down with a fever and by Sunday was just not acting well. On Monday she suffered a febrile seizure, a seizure caused by fever. It was incredibly scary. I thought she was having a breath holding spell, but I quickly knew this was different. I called 911 and once the medics came in the house she roused and was full force crying, which was a good thing. At least I knew she was alert and ok. She was taken to the hospital and treated for her fever, dehydration, and low blood sugar. The next day we took her to her pediatrician and we noticed her gums looked redder than normal and she had a little red spot on her face. Turns out she has hand, foot, and mouth disease. Nice. She has broken out in sores around and inside of her mouth, but thankfully the fever is gone and she is in pretty high spirits. Unfortunately, this virus is pretty contagious so we have to keep her away from other kids and sis. I am hoping they go away before my sister's wedding next Saturday!
